Journey Apologies

Postby tatermoog » Tue Mar 06, 2012 8:20 pm

And now a thread for apologizing to those people you let down with inferior gaming skills during a playthrough of Journey.

I'll start:

To my friend in the third area, I thought for sure that some of those floating scarves in the distance would be of use to both of us. They weren't. When I turned around, you were gone. I am sorry.

I am so grateful for your assistance tonight. You were so patient when my flying skills just didn't add up. Reaching the end of the game with you just added to the overwhelming emotion I felt.

To the first person I met: I'm really sorry I hid behind the rock and had a panic attack when that thing first came at us (being vague to avoid spoilers). It kinda caught me off guard.

To my friend in the fifth area: I never wanted to leave you. I just whiffed really badly on a jump. I miss you. And I'm sorry.

To my friend that reached the dark area with me before leaving:

I was sad to see you go, and sorry if I ran away to explore every now and then. I just didn't think desert could be so beautiful.

May we meet again.

To everyone I played with: thank you for never leaving me, even when I was sidetracked, stuck, or wounded. Also for showing me hidden things of interest when I missed them. Sorry I always missed them...

I have played through twice. The first time I met up with 3 different people. The second time I finished the entire game with one person, whose first time it was. The second time felt much more meaningful because it was just me and him the entire time.
Just so you guys know, if you wait to the end of the credits, it tells you the PSN IDs of the people you met.

To the person in the next to last area. I was not trying to get you ganked by that thing, I was just seeking some solace from it. My bad.

My PSN is MidgardDragon, I don't know who they were but by thinking I could fight the creatures in the underground level with the chirps we ran right into them and we both lost all of our scarves. Sorry!

To my companion who appeared when things were darkest, who encouraged me on with song when thing's got tough and danger loomed overhead, who ran to my aid when I was down and who meditated with me near the end; thank you for an indescribably beautiful experience. It will stay with me for the rest of my days.

I'd actually like to thank someone for being so patient with my little sister ( 9 years old ) on her playthrough (last night ).

Especially from the underground passage onwards, she was having a little difficulty and was genuinely terrified that her companion would grow impatient and abandon her. This was not the case.

Whoever you are, you stuck by her for nearly the entire game, showing her the way to scarf upgrades, glyphs and never wandering too far away. Thank you.

To the person I met in the second area, who was so cheerful and talkative, and who stayed with me through the beginning of our journey...

I'm sorry I couldn't protect you.

And to everyone I met, thank you.

I'd like to say thank you to the person who joined me on more than half of my journey, to whom he helped me get recover some pieces of my scarf -which I lost them all during the 'hunting' at the underground area-; and also we learned together how to shelter from the gale at the mountains.

Thank you for making my journey an amazing one towards the very end.

I'd also like to thank one journeymen that was sitting on an edge letting his scarf fall all the way down to almost half the cliff. Thanks to him I wanted to get all the scarf pieces.

I'm sorry to my companion for panicking when those things appeared, I'm sorry I got you wounded.

I tried to make up for by leading it away from you and getting wounded myself, thank you for running up to me to see if I was alright.

After that I wasn't able to keep up with you I'm grateful you stayed by my side until the very end. Thank you.
